剧情介绍

The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will.     编导对日常的关注让生活气息满溢,纯沪语实为最大亮点,这些深深浅浅的故事发生在五湖口音交错的弄堂或中英文夹杂的咖啡厅里如此自然,这座城市既有欣赏费里尼的品位(开场海报就点题),也不乏烟火生息的俗世感,怀着心底遥梦的念想继续相信“神话”。

    将《爱情神话》比作伍迪·艾伦的电影,比作程耳的《罗曼蒂克消亡史》,比作金宇澄《繁花》所营造出的上海,真无语。后面三者都是艺术作品,前者乃泡沫“红茶坊”,中产“老娘舅”,然而还没有滑稽戏情景喜剧的烟火,只得其造景和片段式喜剧呈现的情节剧模式,倒拉低了后两者。把它说成是“升级版郭敬明”还差不多,因为人物之不接地气,对上海理解之想当然,满足的不过是“下支角民众”看法租界霓裳艳影的刻板眼光,“西宫娘娘烙大饼,东宫娘娘卷大葱”,我们农业社会的农民也是这样想象皇宫的。它的光滑和虚假,修鞋匠也喝着咖啡讲爱情哲学和一线品牌这种,啧啧啧,令人昏昏欲睡。

    你要说它商业,它镜头语言又尝试文艺,像镜头绕一圈回来桌子只剩狼藉;说它是melodrama,几场如修电灯泡又鸡毛蒜皮得像现实主义;几场对话挺有机锋,男女来去那点劲道有,有时又尴尬,还间杂着对现在某些现象/思潮的点评。可电影不是拼贴画(个人观点哈),不是说你观察了现代生活(或者说部分想象中的部分上海人的生活)截取了几个片段,每段都评头论足一番,玩得有趣些逗观众一笑即可,我总以为电影要有个落点,若非说是后现代玩法,她又没有形成明确的风格(如果骨子里没有上海,可以拍出真上海吗?我实在要说,她无半点伍迪艾伦的影子),而如果要玩风格,我始终相信,一个导演来来去去只有几句话要说,我还没有看到她所想说的话。总之,始终有一种不一致感,像你光穿了件羊绒,领后的标签和侧边的水洗标暗暗磨你,瘙痒却遍布周身。

    让我感觉别扭的地方是,导演既想歌颂爱情,又迷恋于一种温馨的“同层文化景观”。——但爱情之所以能成为神话,在于它是一种颠覆性的情感,能跨越难以逾越的障碍(通常表现为阶层障碍)。——就好像,导演既要向费里尼致敬,又要在片尾用上海小吃揶揄大师的阳春白雪。和其他经典的文艺片一样,费里尼的《爱情神话》的精彩在于其极端的创造性实践(“一部关于古罗马的科幻片”),这种艺术密度往往会遭到普通观众的拒绝或嘲笑。所以,本片结尾其实是在用“日常生活最伟大”的主流论调否认了前面挖空心思营造(我更愿称之为“想象”)出来的上海文化格调,也否认了超越世俗而存在的爱情。

    观看的时候,笑的神经的确有被调动,也呈现了近几年华语电影里松弛有加的人物形象,已算是相当奢侈的创作。但这种趣味性和地域的关系有多大,是存疑的。就像国际学校、混血儿、懂得Jimmy Choo的小皮匠……这些符号在多大程度上构成上海的特质,也是需要被讨论的。法租界成为一个容器,承载人们对城市的想象,在电影框架内构成一个过于简化却行之有效的逻辑。

    这么好的电影,排片居然这么少,是因为上海话的原因?对于上海这个地方或者上海人本来挺无感的,结果片子一看,对这个城市甚至城市里的人一下子都有了立体的印象。与近年来并不少的女性群像电视剧不同的是,剧里的每个女人,除了有个性,有魅力,最难得的,是真实。三个女人每一个都达到了演员与角色的神奇统一,似乎那就是她们,美丽,诱人,但背后却有小虚荣,小任性,小心酸,可奇怪的是,不但不难看,反而更加的可爱。就像徐峥在电影中所说“我代表中国男导演向你们道歉”,确实,国内的导演们,真的该好好学学,如何发现中年女性的美与魅力,别再让这些可爱又鲜活的美人无戏可演了。

    瑕已掩瑜。有那么些特别和亮点,比如说有关“谁是主角”这个问题其实我挺喜欢的。但是整体来说,整部电影的“姿态”让人特别难受,有一种骨子里的骄傲在睥睨影迷,cue费里尼的方式一点也不高明,更谈不上致敬了,整个本子都是点状而非线性的,都是散落的梗而不是连贯的递进,从很多段落能感受到导演的“野心”和“品味”,也穿插了不少热闹的段子,但是,到底在表达什么呢?或者说,自己的表达有多少呢?姿态是一种表达吗?
